About James V.F. Dickey

James Dickey serves as a Senior Attorney at The Fairness Center, representing clients in state and federal courts and before administrative boards. Prior to joining The Fairness Center, James led the litigation practice for two public interest law firms dedicated to upholding constitutional and civil rights for all. In his career, James has briefed and argued dozens of cases in Minnesota state and federal courts, including the Minnesota Supreme Court and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. James has also testified about proposed legislation related to cases he litigated to the Minnesota Supreme Court, and the Minnesota Star Tribune has published his opinion pieces several times.

James received his Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2012, graduating magna cum laude. Prior to law school, James graduated from Duke University, where he was a four-year member of the men’s golf team.
